Contemporary Black & White Garden – Northfield

The clients had a very specific brief for this space, they required a solution to their steeply sloping garden, in a contemporary style, using a palette of black and white.

The build was difficult, as the land sloped both from top to bottom, and from left to right.
By incorporating terracing with steps between, we were able to create three flat areas – one for dining adjacent to the new conservatory, in porcelain; another with seating around the conservatory, in a charcoal coloured composite deck, also adding a third in the lower right-hand corner for sunbathing.

The raised beds were rendered and painted white and this gave us the opportunity to add a lush, but architectural, planting scheme to soften the space. Two stainless steel water features were included and the fence was painted black to give a dramatic finish to the scheme.

Project completed in collaboration with Lupin Gardening Ltd and Avalon Landscapes & Design Ltd.

‘We had a very small, sloping, tired garden in need of re-landscaping and inspiration. Mel from Garden Plan Design spent time with us finding out our likes and dislikes and what would work within the space. The plan Mel produced was beyond our expectations, incorporating raised flower-beds, water features and decked and paved areas. The vision was realised through the work of Avalon Landscape & Design and Lupin Gardening and we now have a beautiful outside space, which is a pleasure to spend time in.’
