Modern Courtyard Garden

Our clients had a small private courtyard area to the side of their house, which they wanted to improve; it wasn’t used, due to its dull and uninspiring appearance. The office, with large floor to ceiling windows, projects out into this space, so it was also equally important that the courtyard looked good from here.

The transformation started with a bespoke water-wall feature, in slate with a wood surround. This can be seen from the office and the sound of moving water has a calming effect on the work environment.

The paving is a cool grey ‘plank’ paver set slightly on the offset, giving the illusion of a deeper and wider space; also contrasting well with the bright purple/pink planters. These were also bespoke and give a really bright and contemporary feel to the space. The planting is in soft pinks, purples and whites, adding colour and softness to the space. Herbs are also featured as they give a Mediterranean feel and the clients were keen to have them to use in their cooking.

The clients love the space and this lovely ‘suntrap’ is getting lots of use!
